Podcast No. 26 – Filles Fragiles and old hipsters
The Chick Habit party on 24 November was also the launch of the new CD Filles Fragiles, compiled by Guuzbourg over at Filles Sourires after much hard work. Two songs are featured in Podcast No. 26: a duet by Salvatore Adamo & Olivia Ruiz and another by Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin. As well, in the hipster category, the oh so dreamy young Jacques Dutronc and a more mature yet charming Gilbert Bécaud. Sandwiched in between are the very mellow Françoise Hardy and the very uppity Sylvie Vartan.

I loved this edition.I was doing some work on my Mac and before I knew it, I had listened to this one 3 times! I just kept restarting it. I love all of this hip French music even though my French is tres tres limited, and I was happy to find the Radio Oh La La podcast. I have disregarded Dutronc to date because I was under the impression that he was sappy, but after listening to podcast #26, I see I must have been wrong about Monsieur Jacques. Maybe he got sappy in the 80’s, but I like the song you chose. I’ll probably buy a greatest hits album – All Music Guide recommends L’Essential. I’d like to have one with “Paris S’Eveille” on it since they say it was a grande hit for JD. They also list a few other 60’s songs. I’d like to stick with the 60’s stuff. Any recommendations? Natasha, I love your personal yet knowledgeable attitude. Very charming and entertaining.

Thank you very much!
Dutronc was sappy in the 1980s, but he did so much good stuff before that. He’s a real rock and roller. “Il est 5 heures Paris s’éveille” is a nice slow song. I like his “Les Cactus”, “On nous cache tout, on nous dit rien” and that stuff. There’s tons of it on the webradio!
Cheers! Natasha
